A $6.99 "unpaid toll" text almost cost me everything.
I got a text saying I had an unpaid toll of $6.99 and that my registration would be suspended if I did not pay immediately. It looked official and had a link. I was busy and almost paid it just to make it go away. Something felt off about the web address, so I stopped and typed my real toll agency's website myself instead. There was no balance. The text was a scam designed to steal my card number. Every "unpaid toll" text that asks you to pay through a link is a scam — toll agencies do not collect that way. I reported the text to 7726 (SPAM) and deleted it. Slow down whenever a message tries to rush you.
